HERON, Mont. - A Bonner County teacher was killed in a collision with a log truck on Monday, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.

Rebecca "Becky" Marie Jensen was driving westbound on Railroad Avenue when an oncoming logging truck attempted to negotiate a right-hand turn onto Clark Fork Road, said Trooper Darlene Lee.

Lee said the unloaded logging truck slid into the westbound lane of travel. The trailer was piggybacking on the truck and its pintle hook, which couples the two vehicles together, struck Jensen's car.

Jensen was identified by Sanders County Coroner Kathy Harris.

The crash happened at 7:30 a.m. on the south side of the Clark Fork River, according to MHP.

It was unclear Tuesday if the logging truck driver would be cited or charged with an offense.

"It's still pending investigation," Lee said.

Jensen, a 54-year-old Heron resident, was reportedly en route to her job as a Lake Pend Oreille School District instructor. The Northside Elementary School website indicates she was an extended reading intervention program coordinator and a special education paraprofessional.

Lake Pend Oreille School District Superintendent Shawn Woodward had no comment on Tuesday.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Noxon High School gymnasium. Interment will follow at the Heron Cemetery.

A death notice and online guest book can be found at www.coffeltfuneral.com.
