COEUR d'ALENE - The Lake City Development Corp. has published a draft of its annual report detailing the urban renewal agency's activities in 2014.
Every urban renewal agency in Idaho is required under state statute to submit a report to their respective city councils by March. Executive Director Tony Berns told The Press Wednesday that the 14-page document is created using a template and is centered around a list of the agency's projects in 2014.
"It's pretty straightforward," Berns said of the report. "There's nothing new in there that the public is unaware of that we are doing. It's basically just a recap for city council to let them know where we are and what our goals are moving forward."
Two of the projects in the report - McEuen Park and the acquisition of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe right of way - were of particular significance to the past and future of the organization, Berns said.
According to the report, due to the partnership between LCDC and the city of Coeur d'Alene, revitalization efforts at McEuen Park were brought to fruition last year.
The urban renewal agency once again partnered with the city to purchase the BNSF right of way, which will allow for the future development of the area from Riverstone to Huetter Road into a community centered around the Spokane River.
"The LCDC Board of Commissioners believes in continuous improvement, and thus continues to refine the LCDC business model," a summary of the report states. "The LCDC's presence, practices and functionality continues to be recognized by community leaders as both a key economic development catalyst for the Coeur d'Alene area, as well as an organization that creates great overall public value for the citizens in the community."
The organization is accepting public comments on the annual report through Jan. 20. Those interested in providing comments can either email them to Berns at info@lcdc.org, or mail them to 105 N. First St., Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814.
"We're wide open to anything anyone would like to share with us regarding the report," Berns said.
Time will also be allotted for residents to make comments on the report during the LCDC board meeting on Jan. 21 at 4 p.m. in the Community Room of the Coeur d'Alene Public Library.
The report is available to the public on the LCDC website, www.lcdc.org.
