SANDPOINT - City planning director Jeremy Grimm publicly announced his resignation at Wednesday's Rotary meeting. Grimm will be joining local mobile analytics firm Kochava as director of publisher development on Feb. 4.
"It's been a whirlwind of 24 hours for me," a tired-sounding Grimm said during a telephone interview Wednesday.
Grimm was a key figure in the development of Sandpoint's 2009 comprehensive plan. He helped reshape the city in the process, defining various areas and types of development that helped maintain the city's character, a key value of the comprehensive plan, said Aaron Qualls, senior city planner.
"Since my arrival at the city in the spring of 2007, I have considered it one of the greatest honors of my life to represent Sandpoint and help guide its future," Grimm wrote in his formal resignation letter to city officials.
The city recently completed the rezoning process based on the comprehensive plan, Qualls noted.
Grimm called that conclusion of the city's long-term planning effort "kind of a neat bookend," to his career at the city.
Grimm earned a master of arts degree in community planning and development in 2004 from Southern Maine Muskie School of Public Service. He later worked in a variety of planning-related positions in Wyoming before moving to Sandpoint. He was also involved in several state urban planning efforts during his tenure at the city, according to his LinkedIn page.
"I am extremely optimistic for the towns' future," Grimm wrote in is resignation letter.
Although he plans to remain in Sandpoint, he will be traveling frequently in his new position, he said.
His last final day at the city is Jan. 30.
Launched in 2011, Kochava provides mobile technology-related analytical data to mobile advertisers relating to the effectiveness of marketing and advertising campaigns, according to its website.
Kochava officials could not be reached for comment.
