Whitefish residents can weigh in on design options for the new City Hall and parking structure during a public hearing on Tuesday at the Whitefish City Council meeting.

Mosaic Architecture of Helena will make a presentation about four design options and recommendations from a Future City Hall Steering Committee also will be presented.

During a work session Jan. 5, the council favored a square building design with a three-arch glass wall and historic detailing. Among the design options is one with a rounded exterior.

The combined City Hall and parking structure is expected to cost $14.6 million.

The council will consider selecting Martel Construction as the general contractor and construction manager for the project.

A selection committee recommended Martel as the preferred contractor based on a ranking of proposals and interviews with contractors. Other companies that submitted proposals were Swank Enterprises, Dick Anderson Construction and Langlas & Associates/Andersen Construction.

The council will hold a work session from 6 to 7 p.m. to discuss the costs and options of creating a quiet zone at Birch Point.

During the regular meeting that begins at 7:10 p.m., Chuck Wilhoit will give a program update for Whitefish Community Center.

Both meetings are at Whitefish City Hall.

The meetings are on Tuesday because of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday.
