Dogs pin Frenchtown for dual win

Four pins helped lift Whitefish wrestling to a Northwest A dual win over Frenchtown on Thursday.

The Dogs won six of nine matches to take the team victory.

126-pounder Dillon Thorsteinson scored a pin at 2:28 over Dee Vang.

Brooks Krause at 138 pounds pinned Hunter Allen at 1:53. Matt Sampson at 170 pounds scored a pin at 3:20 over Tyler King. At 205 pounds, Travis Catina pinned Nathan Bennett at 5:14.

Whitefish also picked up points from Judah Prestegaard at 160 pounds. He dominated Preston Downard in the 18-3 decision.

Matt Carr won with a 8-6 decision over Cole Jones at 182 pounds.

Whitefish scored two pins in a 58-12 dual loss on Tuesday at Columbia Falls.

Sampson won the 170-pound match against Dale Meyer with a second-period fall in 3:46. Heavyweight junior Steven Quimby pinned Blake Arneson in 3:15.

Rehberg to attend rally for Jesus statue

Montana Rep. Denny Rehberg will attend a public rally in Whitefish on Nov. 10 in support of the World War II statue of Jesus on Big Mountain. Rehberg will be at the VFW Post 276 on Baker Avenue at 1 p.m.
