Carla Nicosia nabbed a first-place finish in the triple jump Jan. 17 at the Bozeman Track Club indoor meet on the Montana State University campus.

The Columbia Falls senior leaped 36 feet even, eclipsing the previous track record of 35 feet 8 inches set by Leah Cook in 2013.

Nicosia also finished fourth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 10.01 seconds. The meet featured about 140 athletes from across Montana and Washington state.

Nicosia next competes at the Washington State University Open this Saturday, where she won the triple jump last year.
