LIBBY – The Plains Trotters continue to hit their stride as two wins last week improved the team’s record to 8-2.

Last Friday in Libby the Trotters downed the Loggers 46-30 pulling off an upset on the Class A squad.

The game was hard fought throughout the first half but the Plains girls used a 26-12 run in the game’s final two quarters to put away Libby and earn their eighth win of the season.

The game was tied 11-11 after the game’s opening quarter and in the second quarter the Trotters began to find an edge.

By halftime Plains led Libby 20-18.

When the second half started the Trotters offense kicked into gear and the Plains girls were able to cruise to a 16 point win.

Trotters senior forward Hailey Phillips led the team’s offensive attack and scored 14 points during the game.

Junior forward Carley VonHeeder also contributed some critical points for the Trotters ending the game with seven points.

Earlier in the week the Trotters downed the Ronan Maidens in a thriller on the road.

Thursday night, a late free throw from Phillips proved to be the difference as Plains secured a 32-31 win.

The Trotters found themselves down at the half 13-12 but outscored Ronan 20-18 in the second half to secure the hard fought victory.

Ronan held the lead after one quarter of play by a three point margin, 9-6.

The game remained close in the second quarter with the score 13-12 in favor of Ronan.

The Trotters seized the lead in the third quarter and were able to hang on for the win thanks to Phillips timely free throw shot in the final seconds of the game.

Phillips led the team with 12 points and junior guard Kimberly Earhart added eight points to help Plains on their way to the one point victory.

Up next for the Trotters will be a road game against Bigfork on the evening of Thursday, Jan. 22.

The game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
