LEWISTON - Freshman Melody Kempton had 12 points and 13 rebounds for the Post Falls Trojans in a 52-41 loss to the Lewiston Bengals in a 5A Inland Empire League game on Saturday at Booth Hall.
Post Falls (14-5, 3-2 5A IEL) led 28-27 at halftime, but was outscored 25-13 in the second half by the Bengals, the second-ranked team in this week's state 5A girls basketball media poll.
"We played pretty well and executed really well in the first half," Post Falls coach Marc Allert said. "We battled on the boards, and in the second half, they were more aggressive and shot 23 free throws, and we had two. They picked up their defensive pressure in the second half and were a little more physical in the second half."
With the win, Lewiston (18-1, 5-0) clinched the No. 1 seed to the 5A Region 1 tournament starting Feb. 6, and will host fourth seed Coeur d'Alene (9-9, 0-5). Post Falls will be the second seed and host third seed Lake City (14-5, 2-3).

Halee Bennett scored 17 points for Glacier.
"She's one of the best point guards we've played this year," said Kelly of Bennett. "She took a lot of shots, but they were pretty well contested.
