ANNIVERSARY
Louis and Phyllis Schmit
60th Anniversary
Louis and Phyllis (Idso) Schmit, of Coeur d'Alene, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family members on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at their home. They were married Jan. 24, 1955, in Lisbon, N.D.
Their children are: Paul Schmit of Portland, Ore., Joan (Bill) Corder of St. John, Wash., Jerry (Rene) Schmit of Loomis, Calif., Jim (Colleen) Schmit of Eagle and Dan (Cynthia) Schmit of Sandpoint. They have nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
ENGAGEMENT
Udy-Duncan
Dan and Brenda Udy of Potlatch are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jordan Rae Udy to Kyle Eugene Duncan, both of Coeur d'Alene, son of Dennis Duncan (deceased) and Terry Duncan of Post Falls.
Jordan graduated from Genesee High School in 2008 and North Idaho College in 2013. She is employed at Kootenai Health. Kyle graduated from Tekoa High School in 2006 and Spokane Community College in 2008. He is employed at Musselmans.
The couple will be united in marriage in the evening on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Deep Creek Angus Ranch in Potlatch.

Charles Allen 'Bud' Ford
85th Birthday
Charles Allen "Bud" Ford was born in Hettinger, N.D., but has lived in Coeur d'Alene since childhood. Bud is an eight decade resident of the area and a Coeur d'Alene High School graduate of the class of 1948 where he lettered in four sports. After being drafted, he served two years in the Army. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. He has been an owner of various local businesses since 1953 and active in the community.
His No. 1 passion has been sports where he had been an athlete, official, coach and supporter. Bud has officiated football for more than 60 years and basketball for more than 30 years. In 2010, Mr. Ford was selected as the first State of Idaho Official of the Year. In 2012, he was elected the Idaho Sports Hall of Fame. His involvement and contributions were instrumental in ASUI-Kibbie Dome Clubroom and building Coeur d'Alene High School Field House.
In addition to his businesses ownership and sports involvement, he was active in civic activities. Bud served as president of North Idaho Officials Association, Coeur d'Alene Lion's Club and Bryan PTA, and was active in Coeur d'Alene Jaycees, Elks, Kiwanis, Eagles, Coeur d'Alene Quarterback Club, North Idaho Booster Club and Vandal Scholarship Fund. He was selected one of Outstanding Young Men of America in 1965. He has previously served as a Councilman in both Coeur d'Alene and Hayden.
Charles A. Ford is married to June D. Ford. They have three children: Karen (Bill) Hudson, Ed (Terry) Dimon and Charlie (Ginger) Ford; and five grandchildren.
His hobbies include whitewater rafting, hunting and RVing.
EDUCATION
Lake City High School 2013 graduate Marquel Patton daughter of Mark and Barb Patton, of Coeur d'Alene, is a junior at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston majoring in education and mathematics. Marquel finished the fall semester on the president's honor list with a 3.97 GPA.
MISSIONARIES
Ammon Allen Weeks, 18, of Coeur d'Alene, was recently called to serve a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Arizona Phoenix Mission and will enter the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah, on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015. Elder Weeks is the son of Jeremy and Sarah Weeks of Coeur d'Alene.
Ammon graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School in 2014 where he concurrently took computer system courses at KTEC. He worked at System Restore (Computer Repair) before leaving for his mission.
Callie Marie Smidt, 21, of Coeur d'Alene, was called to serve an 18-month Spanish speaking mission to the Santiago, Chile, East Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and will enter the Santiago, Chile, Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015. Sister Smidt is the daughter of Tim and Janet Smidt of Coeur d'Alene.
Callie graduated from Lake City High School in 2012 and continued her education at BYU-Idaho. She has been working at The Grille from Ipanema.
