Ted W. Henderson, 84, resident of Coeur d'Alene, passed away at Kootenai Health in Coeur d'Alene on Jan. 25, 2015. Ted was born in Hayden, Idaho, on March 19, 1930, to Edgar and Pearl Henderson. He spent his childhood in Dover, Idaho, and after his father passed he left school to care for his mother and siblings. He went to work for the railroad, and then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his time in the military, he returned to North Idaho where he worked in Sandpoint as a parts man.
In 1968 he met the love of his life, Alice "Ali." The two married on Dec. 21, 1968, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Ted was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and the Eagles Lodge. He was also a proud member of the Marine Corps League. Ted was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, but he enjoyed bowling, too.
He is survived by his son, Richard Henderson; stepdaughters Janet Schoenhard (Frederick) and Catherine Dowell (Thomas); grandchildren: Dane, Erica, Cole, Jessica, Kelli, Nicholas, Hanni, Tommy and Meagan; several great-grandchildren; as well as nieces Patsy and Nancy; and nephew Teddy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ali Henderson (2013); his daughter, Debbie Ziegler; his parents, Edgar and Pearl Henderson; and all of his siblings.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene. He will be laid to rest with Ali at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens.
