Babcock runner-up in two swim races

Colton Babcock had a pair of second-place finishes to lead the Columbia Falls swim team last week.
Babcock finished the 100-yard breaststroke in 1 minute 3.91 seconds and posted a 54.73 in the 100 butterfly at the Missoula Invitational on Jan. 24.
Zayne Friar was third in the 100 freestyle at 53.54 and fifth in the 200 intermediate medley at 2:21.40.
On the girls side, the team took ninth in the 200 intermediate medley and 10th in the 200 freestyle relay.
Coach Mike Nelson said the entire team has qualifying times in one event or another for the state tournament.
As a team, the boys took ninth, the girls took 10th. The team swims in Helena on Saturday, the last regular season meet before the state tournament in Missoula on Feb. 13-14.
