Lakeview Clinic to host free dental day
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 10 years, 10 months AGO
COEUR d'ALENE - Spencer Wirig and his associates at Lakeview Dental Clinic want to change lives by offering free smiles to anyone who needs dental work.
The clinic will host Dentistry from the Heart, a free day of dentistry, on Feb. 13 at the Coeur d'Alene office, 801 Milwaukee Drive.
"Now more than ever, I know there's people out there that need my services, but have no means to afford them- whether they're out of a job, or just don't have dental insurance. This event is my way of giving back to the community, and being there for people who are in need of dental work," Wirig said in a press release.
Starting at 8 a.m. on the day of the event, Dr. Wirig and his volunteers will treat however many they can serve - on a first-come, first-served basis - until 1 p.m.
The patient can choose a service: one filling, one extraction or a cleaning.
"Without events like this dental care simply isn't an option for many of the uninsured," said the press release.
More than 100 million Americans lack dental insurance, and 29 percent of adults have untreated cavities.
Dentistry from the Heart is a national nonprofit and movement that got its start in 2001 with one Florida dentist. Dentistry From The Heart has grown to include more than 200 annual events nationwide and around the world. More than 80,000 people have now been served.
