SANDPOINT — A Vay man implicated in the 1997 shooting death of his wife  in Washington state is scheduled to be arraigned today in Yakima County Superior Court.

Barry Brandon Beckford is charged with first-degree murder and is being held in lieu of $250,000 bond, according to superior court records.

Beckford, 60, was arrested by U.S. Marshals at his Horn Mountain Road on Jan. 14 and extradited back to his former home state to answer to the charge.

Yakima County Deputy Prosecutor Jared Boswell said a decision to charge Beckford came after sheriff’s investigators conducted a thorough reinvestigation of the evidence and witnesses.
