POLSON — Mission Valley A scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to break a tie with Deer Lodge and leading a 6-3 victory at the Polson Firecracker tournament on Friday.

Justin Young was 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI to help the Mariners, who took advantage of five Deer Lodge errors to take the lead. Mission Valley had just four hits in the game.

Deer Lodge used its own late push to beat Libby earlier in the night, scoring nine runs in the final two innings, including a six-run fifth to beat the Loggers 12-10.

Libby led Deer Lodge 8-3 entering the bottom of the fourth inning but struggled to close out the Wranglers.

The Loggers had a comeback victory in their other contest on Friday, scoring seven runs in the seventh inning to beat Dillon 13-8. Jared Winslow went 3 for 3 from the plate with a double and three RBIs and Libby saw four batters hit for extra base hits and multiple RBIs in the contest.

Kootenai Valley took a lead in its contest with Livingston on a three-run burst in the fifth inning, but fell 6-5 after the Braves scored two runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead for good. Dawson Henrie went 2 for 4 from the plate to lead the Rangers. Livingston’s Buck Spallone was 2 for 4 with a double, a triple and two RBIs.
