Wahluke pulls in the scholarships

MATTAWA - The Wahluke High School graduating class of 2015 grabbed scholarships that totaled $191,460.

Leading the college assistance parade were Mariela Pineda with $60,000 as a Merit Scholar Wagner University and Sebastian Torres with $40,000 in a Costco Diversity Scholarship and $1,500 from Yakima Federal Savings & Loan.

Diana Farias Acevedo was awarded a Weyns Farm Scholarship, a WSU Merit Scholarship and a Yakima Federal Savings & Loan Scholarship for a total of $18,500.

Bianca Ramirez received $2,000 from the Paul Lauzier Foundation and $15,000 in a St. Martins University Presidential Scholarship for a total of $17,000.

Diana Silverio received a Wahluke Enrichment Organization scholarship, a Grant County Fire District No. 8 Volunteer Association Greg Arnold Scholarship, a Paul Lauzier Foundation Scholarship and a University of Washington Scholarship for a total of $8,750.

Luis Alejo received scholarships from the Mattawa-Desert Aire Lions Club, the Paul Lauzier Foundation, the WSU future Cougars of color and the Grant County Fire District No. Volunteers Association Greg Arnold Fund for a total of $8,250.

Alondra Rodriguez received a total of $6,600 from the Washington Apple Education Foundation, Sea Mar Community Health Centers, the Paul Lauzier Foundation and the Distinguished Young Woman program.

Juan Lopez collected a total of $6,004 from the Paul Lauzier Foundation, Future Cougars of Color and Cougar Commitment.

Maritsa Barragan was awarded a total of $3,800 by the Wahluke Enrichment Organization, the Paul Lauzier Foundation, the WSU Silver Academic Achievement Award and the WSU Tour Award.

Zuleyca Navarrete received a total of $2,500 from the Paul Lauzier Foundation and Fashion Program Sanford Brown.

Gabriela Rodriguez totaled $2,000 with scholarships from Sea Mar Community Health Centers and the Paul Lauzier Foundation.

Idanis Cruz received $3,500, Deysi Guerrero $2,000 and Fernando Valdovinos $1,000 from the Paul Lauzier Foundation.

Faustino Domiguez was awarded a $1,500 Washington Apple Education Foundation Scholarship.

The Mattawa-Desert Aire Lions Club awarded $1,000 each to Daisy de Jesus Rios and Jazmin Vega. The Sea Mar Community Health Centers awarded $1,000 to Erick Vargas.
