Nov. 7, 1948 - June 29, 2015

Carolyn Jean Riggs (Dauenhauer) left this world unexpectedly and accepted her place in the Kingdom of Heaven on June 29, 2015.

Carolyn was born in Colfax, Wash., on Nov. 7, 1948, to Michael and Cora Dauenhauer. She was the fifth of six children and graduated from University High School in Spokane, Wash., in 1967.

Carolyn married David Oslund, a staff sergeant in the Air Force, in 1967. Son James was born in 1968, and his brother, Anthony, followed in 1970.

Carolyn balanced work and her boys' teen years as a single parent, employed at area businesses such as Gus Johnson Ford, Excell Food Store and Wonder Bread. She worked at Franz Bakery as a baker for 16 years before her retirement in 2010.

In October 1999, Carolyn married James Riggs in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Carolyn was a regular attendee at North Country Chapel in Post Falls, Idaho, and she maintained a list (updated each week) that included the names of people for whom she prayed. Her unshakable faith in God provided the foundation of a life spent caring for the needs and concerns of others.

Carolyn was a loving mother of two, grandmother of five and great-grandmother of one. She prioritized family above all else, and her capacity for love as the true matriarch of her family was immeasurable. She was an avid reader, loved to cook and experiment with new recipes, and her scrapbooking and crafting skills were second to none. She made frequent donations to the Humane Society and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 2008; father Michael Dauenhauer and mother Cora Dauenhauer (Waddell); and brother, Bruce Dauenhauer. She is survived by her sisters Darlene (Bob) Dale and Diane Lewis, brothers Mick Dauenhauer and Alan (Kathy) Dauenhauer; children James Oslund and Anthony (Marlo) Oslund; grandchildren A.J. (Grace) Oslund, Jake Oslund, Sarah (Jason) Shoot, Brandon Oslund and Steven Oslund; as well as great-grandchild Savannah Shoot.

A memorial service to celebrate Carolyn's life will be held at 1 p.m. today, July 7, at North Country Chapel, 2281 N. Seltice Way, Post Falls, Idaho.

Please sign Carolyn's guest registry and view her online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
