MATTAWA - A 1-car crash on Highway 243, about 11 miles south of Mattawa on June 27, resulted in injury and hospitalization for an Enumclaw man.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Robert Dean Brown, 52, was taken to Kadlec Medical Center in Richland by ambulance. It was unknown whether he was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, the WSP said.

Brown was driving a blue 2013 Mazda, which was totaled. It was impounded by Royal City Towing.

Brown was northbound, the State Patrol said, when he lost control of his vehicle. It left the roadway to the right and ended up in a canal.

Inattention was the cause of the crash, the WSP said. Brown was cited by the WSP for driving with wheels off the roadway.
