SANDPOINT — Bonner County commissioners approved a land use code change Monday that permits gun clubs and shooting ranges within Agricultural/Forestry zones with 20-acre minimums.

The code amendment was approved on a unanimous vote and followed comments from residents who urged commissioners to carefully consider any conditional use permit applications that could follow.

Karin Beno lives near a landowner who target shoots on his large tract in the Cocolalla area.

“Sixty acres does not contain the noise. The sound travels,” said Beno.
