The Glacier Rim Fire is now 100 percent contained and is in patrol status. Firefighters were pulling the last of the hose off the line early this week.

The human-caused wildfire started near a gravel pit 11.5 miles north of Columbia Falls near the Glacier Rim fishing access site on June 27.

It spotted into Glacier Park and was a significant concern for several days. But the weather has been favorable recently and a little rain last week helped quell the 100-acre blaze.

Hungry Horse/Glacier View Fire management Officer Manny Mendoza said the fire area is closed as there may be some remnant hot spots and the gravel pit area is closed as well, as a stack of salvage logs there will likely be sold. All other roads near the fire have reopened.

Glacier National park had two small fires over the weekend. One at Doverspike Meadow in the North Fork that is now out and another on Howe Ridge overlooking Lake McDonald. That fire is 2.25 acres and 100 percent contained.
