LITTLE LEAGUE STATE PLAYOFFS
At Croffoot Park, Hayden
AGE 10-11
Hayden 10, West Valley (Boise) 3: Liam Paddack hit a grand slam in the fourth inning to put Hayden up by five runs. Paddack also had an RBI double and a run-scoring single as Hayden won the best-of-3 state playoff series 2-0. Ryan Schneider also homered in the win.
Bret Housel doubled for West Valley, and Kasen Clifford added an RBI single.
AGE 9-10
Coeur d'Alene 12, Southwest Ada (Boise) 8: Andrew Karns hit a fifth-inning grand slam as Coeur d'Alene took the lead, and went on to win the best-of-3 state playoff series 2-0. Kyle Bridge went 2 for 2 for Coeur d'Alene, and Joe DeCoeur added a triple.
Avery Blessing hit a two-run homer for Southwest Ada.
MAJORS
West Valley (Boise) 12, Coeur d'Alene 4: Ben Ford, Spencer Warner and Cannon Morgan each hit two-run homers as West Valley squared the best-of-3 state playoff series at one game apiece. Chase Hilde added an RBI double for the winners.
Alex Karns homered for Coeur d'Alene.
The deciding Game 3 is scheduled for today at 1 p.m. at Croffoot Park, with the winner advancing to the Northwest Regionals in San Bernardino, Calif., next month.
