Inmate charged with spitting at officer

An inmate at the Flathead County Detention Center picked up an additional felony charge for an alleged assault by saliva.

Kalispell resident Jared Crawford Snell, 34, was arrested on July 14 on suspicion of domestic assault. He was intoxicated and belligerent in jail, according to court documents.

Snell spat on the holding cell floor, yelling that the fluid contained Hepatitis C. He was moved to a soft cell.

A detention officer came in and tried to removed Snell’s shoe, according to court records. Snell allegedly spat in the officer’s face.

A subsequent blood test showed that he is Hepatitis C-positive, according to the court document.

For this, Snell has been charged with felony aggravated assault. The maximum penalty is 20 years in prison and a $50,000 fine is he’s convicted.

Snell remains in jail on $50,000 bail. He is set to be arraigned in July 30.
