A Kalispell man has been charged with felony sexual assault in Flathead County District Court for allegedly fathering a child with an 15-year-old girl.

Rudy Chandler, 28, is being held in the Flathead County Detention Center on $50,000 bail. He is set to be arraigned on Aug. 20.

The Kalispell Police Department received a tip about the girl in February. At that time, she was 33 weeks pregnant, according to court documents.

Later that same month, investigators got a DNA sample from Chandler.

The girl gave birth on April 6. At that time, the Montana State Crime Lab was able to test the child’s DNA with the sample from Chandler. According to court documents, Chandler “could not be ruled out” as the father.

Chandler allegedly admitted to having sex with the girl in an interview with investigators. He was engaged to be married to another woman at the time.
