A Kalispell man has denied allegations that he cut the brake lines on his mother’s car after an argument.

Corey Jonathan Woods, 23, pleaded not guilty to felony criminal endangerment Thursday in Flathead County District Court.

According to court documents, Woods and his mother got into a heated argument on June 15. His mother first called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to report the dispute and that Woods had left the house.

A half-hour later, Woods’ mother called the Sheriff’s Office again from the side of the U.S. 93 bypass. She had gone for a drive and lost the ability to brake, according to court documents. She down-shifted and was able to stop.

A sheriff’s deputy examined the vehicle and noted that the brake lines “appeared to have been cut by a knife,” according to court documents.

Woods remains in the Flathead County Detention Center. His next court hearing is scheduled for Oct. 28.
