LEAVENWORTH, Wash. — The Washington State Patrol is investigating the death of a 67-year-old Columbia Falls bicyclist who was found on U.S. 2 about 22 miles west of Leavenworth, Washington.
The bicyclist has been identified as Edward H. Folkwein of Columbia Falls.
Trooper Darren Wright said motorists driving east on the highway found Folkwein on the ground dead at about 1 p.m. Monday. He was wearing a helmet.
Wright says the State Patrol is investigating it as a hit-and-run in case he was struck by a car. Wright says there’s no evidence he was hit but the coroner will decide what actually caused his death.
Folkwein’s family has been notified.
