Friends, family and colleagues of a game warden are rallying support after the man lost a leg.

Ron Howell, who is a Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks warden out of Polson, had his lower left leg amputated last week as the result of a congenital vascular irregularity. The condition left him with significant blood-flow damage.

News of his situation spread and the Montana Game Wardens Association started a crowd-funding page to help the Howells with medical expenses.

In three days, it has raised over $5,300 with 70 people donating.

According to the page, Howell is looking forward to a strong recovery. He also plans to “get fitted with a prosthetic limb and start rolling bionic style,” it says.

Lee Anderson, regional warden captain for Fish, Wildlife and Parks, said this about Howell:

“He’s a great guy and does an excellent job. He’s just a real solid game warden, is really good with the public and is also a great investigator.”

The campaign to support Howell and his family can be found at www.gofundme.com/vp27h94.
