COEUR d'ALENE - Three of Tesla's fastest electric cars will be available for test drives at the Innovation Collective's Think Big Festival in August.
Nick Smoot, co-founder of the collective, said in an email Tuesday that Tesla Motors has agreed to bring three of its P85Ds for attendees to drive during the conference, which will be held Aug. 20-22.
He said those attending the conference will be able to test drive the cars and the cars will also be available to cart people around during the pub crawl portion of the event.
Smoot said Harbrick, a self-driving-car company located in Moscow, is also bringing a self-driving car in which attendees can ride.
"We will have drones for you to fly and we even have a stealth robotics company showcasing their product for the first time at #ThinkBigFest2015," Smoot wrote in the email. "It is going to be something you will not want to miss."
Smoot said they also have a lineup of speakers from Microsoft, Boeing, Harbrick and Qualcomm Ventures.
"Crazily, the second-most influential person on social media, Robert Scoble, is coming to help host along with one of Time Magazine's 20 most influential teenagers, Erik Finman," he said. "Throw in a pub crawl and a concert - yes a concert - and you have the three best days of summer."
The Think Big Festival is an annual event that educates and empowers entrepreneurs by focusing on the speed at which technology is moving and our role in its progression.
This year's festival will highlight the field of robotics and host brilliant minds from UCLA IDEAS Platform, Singularity, Tokyo City University and more at North Idaho College, the Think Big website says.
The event will also feature live startup pitch sessions, Segways, robots and tech parties around town, the website says.
The website says organizers are working on a number other surprises as well.
"What if we were to tell you that...Wait we can't tell you that yet. How about...Darn, can't talk about that yet either," the website jokes. "Let's just say this: We are working on a number of surprises for this year's Think Big Festival that may or may not include conference attendees getting to experience some of the most cutting technology anywhere in the world."
It starts Thursday with a concert and kickoff party in the evening. Friday is the conference and evening pub crawl. Saturday is the robotic experience day involving the self driving cars, flying drones, operating underwater robots, 3D printers - the list goes on and on.
