A Post Falls juvenile male is a suspect in a BB gun rampage that damaged at least 22 properties in west Post Falls.

In 16 of the cases, vehicle windows were cracked or shattered. The other six included damage to the siding or windows of homes.

All of the incidents occurred late Saturday or early Sunday. The suspect was contacted by an officer on a bicycle while on patrol on Monday night.

"We confiscated a BB gun pistol from the juvenile who was in that area (west side of Post Falls)," said Post Falls Police Capt. Greg McLean. "This boy has been charged with the same crime before, involving a BB gun."

McLean said the boy's parents have been cooperative and agreed to take the suspect into the police station for questioning.

The damage occurred in the Meadows and Prairie Meadows subdivisions and the area of Fisher and Guy roads.

Using $300 as an average amount of damage to each property, McLean said the total amount of damage is estimated at $6,600.

McLean said the suspect was contacted in the area of Grange and Howell on the west side of Post Falls, not far from where he lives.

McLean said it will be at the detective's discretion on whether the juvenile will be arrested or cited.

Investigators are looking into whether there's a second suspect in the vandalism spree. There were no witnesses who saw the suspect or suspects commit the crimes.
