Gonzaga makes it official,

announces addition of Williams

SPOKANE - Johnathan Williams, a transfer from Missouri, has signed a financial aid agreement at Gonzaga and will join the men's basketball team.

Williams will enroll in classes at Gonzaga and be eligible for the 2016-17 season after sitting out the upcoming season due to NCAA transfer rules. He'll have two years of eligibility remaining.

"Johnathan is a very high character young man, and really good academically," Gonzaga coach Mark Few said. "He's a proven commodity at high Division I level in scoring and rebounding, and he fits a real need for where our team and personnel makeup will be a year from now. I think this next year of development will be huge for him. It's a perfect scenario with being able to work with Nigel (Williams-Goss) and also, day-in and day-out, go against Kyle (Wiltjer), Domantas (Sabonis) and Przemek (Karnowski). That really creates a great situation for him development-wise."

The 6-9 forward led the Tigers in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots during the 2014-15 season. He averaged 11.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, and recorded a team-best six double-doubles. He scored in double figures 20 times as a sophomore and had 20-plus on three occasions. Williams also showed a knack for getting to the free throw line, leading the Tigers in free throws made (99) and free throws attempted (159).

As a freshman, Williams finished 11th in the SEC in rebounding and his 227 rebounds were the fourth best in Missouri history by a freshman. He also posted 57 total blocks as a rookie, the second-best for a Tiger freshman.

Williams joins a Gonzaga squad coming off of an Elite Eight finish and school-record 35 wins. The Zags graduated three players - guards Kevin Pangos, Gary Bell Jr. and Byron Wesley.

Shock add pair of pass

rushers, play at San Jose tonight

The Spokane Shock were assigned defensive linemen Daniel Riley and Alex Magee to their 2015 active roster.

Riley (6-4, 260) joins the Shock for his rookie season as a member of the AFL. Riley first joined the Shock during the team's 2015 training camp before spending time with the CFL's BC Lions. During his senior season at Harding University (Arkansas) in 2013, Riley earned first team All-Great American conference honors after tallying 38 tackles and tens sacks.

Magee (6-3, 300, Purdue) joins the Shock for his third season in the Arena Football League. He began the 2015 regular season as a member of the Arizona Rattlers and was released May 26. Magee played for the Chicago Rush in 2013 and the Utah Blaze in 2012.

Magee was selected in the third round (pick 67) of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. He also spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Spokane (3-6) plays at San Jose (10-0) tonight at 7:30 (ESPN 700).

Pac-12 Conference announces

early television selections

PULLMAN - Three Washington State football games, two home and one away, have been selected as part of the Pac-12 Conference's early television selections, the conference announced.

The Pac-12 television selections cover the first three weeks of the season, along with eight special date games later in the year.

The Cougars will open their 2015 season Saturday, Sept. 5 by hosting Portland State at Martin Stadium. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. and will be broadcast by the Pac-12 Networks.

Following an away game at Rutgers, the Cougars return to Martin Stadium to host Wyoming on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 5:30 p.m., also televised by the Pac-12 Networks.

The 2015 Apple Cup will be played Friday, Nov. 27, as the Cougars travel to Seattle to face Washington. The game will be televised by either Fox or Fox Sports 1, and will be played at 12:30 or 1 p.m. Start time and network selection will be finalized 12 days prior to the game.

While television selections for the first three weeks of the 2015 season have been made, as well as all Thursday and Friday games throughout the season, all remaining television game selections and start times, starting with week four (Saturday, Sept. 26) and running through the final week of the regular season (Saturday, Nov. 28) will be made 12- or six-days in advance.

Additional non-conference road games will be televised as part of other conference or institution television packages. Those conferences and institutions will release their 2015 television schedule in the coming weeks. In all, every game involving a Pac-12 team is expected to be televised this season.

In addition to the selected games, the Cougars will play road games at Rutgers, California, Oregon, Arizona and UCLA. Rutgers will be announced later this summer by the Big Ten Conference. The remaining home games included Oregon State, Stanford, Arizona State and Colorado.

The television arrangement with ESPN and Fox Sports calls for Pac-12 football to receive full national distribution of each game. ESPN will televise on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU or ABC, while Fox Sports will air its games on Fox or Fox Sports 1. ABC or ESPN will culminate the 2015 Pac-12 season when it carries the Pac-12 Football Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 5.
