COEUR d'ALENE - Stephen Vaudreuil had four hits, but couldn't get it done on the mound, as the Spokane Expos scored twice in the ninth inning for a 8-6 win over the Coeur d'Alene Lumbermen on Monday at Thorco Field.

Sam Slusser struck out five and Parker Gabrielson added two hits for the Lums (13-2), who are back in action with a doubleheader tonight vs. Premier Sports Academy at 5 p.m. at Thorco Field.

"We jumped out to an early lead, and we had a lot of energy," Coeur d'Alene coach Zach Clanton said. "We played loose, but we kind of fell asleep when we got a decent lead, and just didn't have that killer mentality to put this one away."

In conjunction with tonight's doubleheader, all Little Leaguers in uniform will receive a free hot dog and soda.

WALLA WALLA Wash. - The visiting Cardinals class AA team managed just seven hits in dropping a nonleague pair to the Bears late Sunday.

"Sam Schultz gave a nice effort on the mound in the second game, throwing five-plus innings of one-hit ball," Prairie coach Brian Fowler said. "Overall though, our pitchers walked too many guys, and our defense did not make enough plays to give us a chance in either game against a quality team like Walla Walla."

Fowler noted that Kaman Curtis recorded his first hit at the 'AA' level in the second inning of the first game with a single up the middle.

Prairie (2-10) travels to Lewiston on Tuesday for a 5 p.m. North Idaho League doubleheader with Lewis-Clark at Harris Field.
