Just as the temperature soared into the 90s this week, the city of Kalispell announced that the Woodland Water Park will open this weekend.

Saturday will mark the first chance for pool-goers to escape the unseasonable early June heat.

It should be a good weekend for a dip, since the weather forecast calls for sun.

Parks and Recreation Director Chad Fincher said that the traditional June opening can see a variety of weather conditions.

“Last year was a little damp,” he said. “Took us a while to get our participation.”

Another year, he said that an inch of snow forced the cancellation of an opening day event.

This Saturday calls for sunny conditions with temperatures in the 70s.

The water park will open with its regular hours, noon to 4 p.m., on Saturday.

And while many activities within the Parks and Recreation Department will see fee increases this year, water park admission remains unchanged.

Daytime open swim rates are $6 for people over 16 years old or $5 for swimmers ages 1 to 15. Children under 1 get in free.

More information can be found by calling the water park at 758-7812.
