PRESS: No D-Day mention

Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 9 years, 7 months AGO
| June 12, 2015 9:00 PM

June 6 came and went and again the Coeur d’Alene Press did not have any mention or have an article on one of the most important days in history, June 6, 1944, D-Day. I would think a day as important as that could have a front-page article about D-Day and maybe talk to some of the few veterans still alive who lived it. At least an article in the paper, but I think it deserves front page.

It is sad that we forget the important days of history in our nation. I know they don’t seem to teach history anymore in our schools and I suppose some of the journalists at the paper are not old enough to remember the important days of history. It is only one day out of the year and I would think The Press could accommodate one day in history.

My father served in Europe during the war and received three Bronze Stars as well as two purple hearts. There are still veterans alive who served in that war, and of course a lot of family members whose father or mothers or uncles, grandfathers, etc., served in that war and many of them lost their lives to protect our freedoms and freedoms of the world. It would be nice to not forget those people and honor them on those few days that are important in history. So I ask the Coeur d’Alene Press to remember these few days and have an article about those important historical days. Because of them you are able to publish this newspaper.
