LEGION BASEBALL: Benson, McCliment-Call pace Prairie at tourney

POST FALLS - Preston Benson went 2 for 2 and drove in three runs as the Prairie Cardinals class AA squad beat the Missoula Prospects 20-0 on the first day of the School's Out Slam tournament at Post Falls High.

Tanner McCliment-Call got his first hits of the year for Prairie (3-12), finishing 2 for 2 with an RBI. Jacob Elliott and Sam Schulze teamed on a two-hit shutout.

"Today was a good overall team win," Prairie coach Brian Fowler said. "Everyone contributed. Our pitchers threw strikes, our hitters were patient at the plate and our defense made plays."

Today, Prairie plays the Moses Lake Walleyes at 10 a.m. and the Spokane Crew at 3 p.m., both at Post Falls High.
