Let officials know how you feel about the lake

Jim McKiernan’s editorial raises an important issue — who controls our lake level and why isn’t Lake Pend Oreille kept at 2062.5 feet for at least six months out of the year?

We all know how important  the lake is to Sandpoint and our local economy — tourism is our No. 1 industry — and that this industry is severely curtailed in the spring and fall when water levels are lowered. As our neighbor “Rusty” used to say, “We have a lake here for three months of the year.”
