Meals on Wheels seeks fans for seniors
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 10 years, 6 months AGO
With the summer heating up, the Coeur d'Alene Meals on Wheels program is once again collecting fans for its "Fan Brigade" to help keep seniors who are homebound a little bit cooler.
"I ask the community if they can help out and they have done really well the last couple years I've done this," said Kris Wright, Meals on Wheels coordinator.
She said the program will take as many fans as it can get because if it collects more than it can use in Coeur d'Alene, the Meals on Wheels programs in Spirit Lake, Rathdrum and Sandpoint are always in need of fans for their homebound seniors as well.
Three times a week, Meals on Wheels delivers fresh-cooked meals to seniors in need - Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Wright said the number of people it delivers to each week varies, but is around 70-75, and it has 15-20 volunteers who drive the meals to the seniors.
"It's a lot of fun and it makes you feel good," Wright said.
Wright asks that the fans be new or clean and gently used. They can be delivered to Lake City Center, 1916 Lakewood Drive in Coeur d'Alene.
