A medical ailment caused a man to crash his pickup truck into a traffic-signal pole late Tuesday morning in Evergreen.

The crash occurred near the intersection of West Reserve Drive and U.S. 2 in Evergreen.

Evergreen Fire Rescue Chief Craig Williams said that the man was unconscious when he crashed.

“He had a medical incident that impaired his ability to drive,” Williams said.

Trooper Brian Thorne with the Montana Highway Patrol said the man tried to pull over but didn’t make it. He said the truck appeared to have been traveling no more than the speed limit.

The man was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center for treatment. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
