Blake Arneson will be traveling to Australia later this month to play football in the Downunder Bowl. Arneson is a 6-foot-1-inch right guard for the Columbia Falls football team. On defense, the 250-pounder plays noseguard.
He's been busy raising money for the trip, which will cost about $5,000 over the course of the 10-day excursion, air fare included.
The tournament is designed to introduce American high school football to Australians. There are several different conferences and Arneson will play in the Mountain. He'll be in at least four games in the course of his stay.
Arneson has been playing on the line since the fourth grade, primarily at center.
"The most stressful thing is to make your snaps," he said. "You have to make sure they get back there and on point."
Arneson still needs to raise about $1,000 for the June 28 trip.
"I'd like to thank all the businesses that have supported me," he said. "The community has been great."
Folks who want to help Blake out can call his father, Monti at 314-1710.
