Norman M. Crump, 73

Norman M. Crump, 73, of Rathdrum, Idaho, passed away June 14, 2015, from cancer.

Born in Pocatello, Idaho, on May 23, 1942, to Elmer and Vietta Crump, Norman attended high school in Orofino, Idaho.

On Nov. 10, 1961, Norman married Karen F. Smolinski in Orofino. They were married for 53 years and had three children: Debra, Jeffrey and Steven.

Norman was with the Idaho National Guard in Lewiston, Idaho, for 36 years. He also worked full time for the Idaho National Guard as a Civilian Technician, commuting from Orofino to Lewistion each day for work and guard duties until 1975 when the family moved to Lewiston. In 1982 Norm transferred to Coeur d'Alene and worked full time for the 116th Engineer Battalion, but still commuted to Lewiston for guard duties. Norm retired from both in 2001.

Norman was a member of the Eagles lodge #4080 for 25 years, as well as the American Legion in Post Falls. He enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing - especially the past few years on the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River with family and friends.

Norman was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra, on May 3, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Karen; sons Jeffrey (Sandy) Crump of Coeur d'Alene and Steven (Torri) Crump of Rathdrum; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sisters Una Bullock of McCammon, Idaho, and Nona (Richard) Hill of Anchorage, Alaska; and brother Lynn (Sharon) Crump of Chubbuck, Idaho.

A service with military honors is planned for 2 p.m. on Friday, June 19, at Yates Funeral Home, 373 E. Hayden Ave., Hayden, Idaho. A reception will follow at the Eagles Lodge, 1520 W. Wyoming Ave., Hayden.
