Joan E. Simpson, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on June 13, 2015. The daughter of W.L. and Judy Korter, Joan grew up in Moscow, Idaho. She is preceded in death by her husband Ward, who died in 2011. While attending the University of Idaho she met and married Ward in 1951. Together, Joan and Ward helped manage the family creamery business and started their family in the 1950's.
Joan's love of art and talent started to blossom during the 1960's as she took classes at the University of Idaho. Later in life she became an accomplished watercolor artist with many of her paintings displayed throughout the Northwest. She also became a licensed insurance agent and partnered with Ward in developing a successful insurance business in Moscow.
In 1985, Joan and Ward moved to Coeur d' Alene where they thrived painting and carving totem poles. Joan loved to entertain and have friends visit their family home in Mica Bay. She participated in many local art groups and taught the love of painting to many students.
In 2012, Joan relocated to Boise living at Willow Park Retirement Center. While in Boise she focused on her grandchildren and taking care of her dogs. She is survived by three children Jennifer (Morton) of Boise, John of Boise and Hugh of Kent, WA and six grandchildren.
