Puppies abandoned at Post Falls park
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 9 years, 7 months AGO
POST FALLS - The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office is seeking the person or people who abandoned a litter of eight puppies found Monday night at Corbin Park in Post Falls.
A citizen told the KCSO on Tuesday that the puppies, possibly a Rottweiler mix breed, were found in a cardboard box on Monday around 7:30 p.m.
The puppies are believed to be about 4 weeks old - too young to be weaned from their mother and suffering from mange or another skin disease.
Following a check by a veterinarian, the puppies are being treated for dermatitis and possibly ringworm. They have been vaccinated.
KCSO Lt Stu Miller said the puppies are not available for adoption yet, but possibly will be in a month or so.
"They are too young at this point and under doctor's care," Miller said.
Miller said the agency that the adoptions will be through has not been determined, but they will possibly be through a local animal rescue.
There are both males and females in the litter and all of the dogs are black and tan.
Those with information are encouraged to call the KCSO animal control division at 446-1300 or leave an anonymous tip at http://bit.ly/1G4HI35.
