POST FALLS - A wanted 25-year-old Post Falls man was arrested for reckless driving Tuesday night after he allegedly attempted to avoid being pulled over by police.
According to police, Blake Barnhill, who was driving a Chevy Trailblazer, quickly turned off of Seltice Way and didn't signal when an officer was on patrol behind the vehicle.
The officer said Barnhill then drove down an unmarked dirt road near Aaron's at a high rate of speed.
The officer attempted to pull over Barnhill on Greensferry Road.
"It appeared the driver was considering to pass the vehicles in front of him who were yielding to me," the police report states.
After Barnhill finally stopped near Strand, the officer said it appeared that Barnhill would flee on foot due to the door opening rapidly, so the suspect was instructed to stay inside the vehicle and drop the keys on the ground.
Barnhill, who was arrested without further incident, told the officer that his vehicle was overheating and he did not see the patrol car behind him. He was wanted for failure to appear for an invalid driver's license and was also cited for fictitious display of license plates.
Barnhill has been booked into the Kootenai County jail nine times in the past seven years on a variety of charges.
