POST FALLS - Post Falls Senior Center received a $1,250 grant from Meals on Wheels America for its participation in the 13th annual March for Meals campaign.
This year's grants were made possible through Subaru of America, Inc. and its seventh annual "Share the Love" event. During the event, Subaru donated $250 to the owner's choice of participating charities for every new vehicle purchased or leased.
"We love the chance to showcase our senior center and Meals on Wheels to our local officials and business leaders of Post Falls," said Alison McArthur, the senior center's executive director. "Each year we add another four or five volunteers. We know that many of our local officials had no idea of the need for seniors meals."
Throughout the month of March, the senior center hosted more than 60 different volunteers including Mayor Ron Jacobson, city council members, Police Chief Scot Haug, business leaders and several local volunteers.
The $1,250 will be used to purchase marketing materials and supplies such as trays for delivery drivers.
