SPOKANE VALLEY - Jared Porter went 3 for 4 with an RBI and Kaman Curtis scored a run for the Cardinals in a loss to the Missoula Prospects in the Best of the Northwest tournament at Central Valley High.
Prairie (6-17) left 12 runners on base.
"Coming into this game, we were very short on pitchers," Prairie coach Brian Fowler said. "I was really proud of the way all three of our pitchers (Jerritt Plunkett, Brandon Busch and Brock Zeller) stepped up and gave us a chance to win. Those three have not thrown many innings this year and it was a great effort on their part to keep us in the game. Our problem was that we gave them a couple unearned runs and our offense left 12 runners on base."
On Monday, Prairie will compete in the Treasure Valley Community College tournament, facing Vallivue at 3 p.m. PST and Treasure Valley at 5:30 at Ontario (Ore.) High.
