Motorcyclist injured during Highway 53 accident

HAUSER — A 63-year-old Rathdrum man was injured on Highway 53 near Hauser this morning when a collision caused his motorcycle to overturn and eject him.

Jerry Mann was transported to Kootenai Health before being taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. His condition was unavailable this afternoon due to undergoing surgery. Mann was wearing a helmet during the crash.

According to Idaho State Police, Mann was westbound on a 2003 Harley Davidson on Highway 53 at Hauser Lake Road at 10:30 a.m. when a 2001 Subaru Forester driven by Matthew N. Bruch, 27, Hauser, failed to yield while turning onto eastbound Highway 53 from Hauser Lake Road. The vehicles collided.

Bruch, who was wearing his seatbelt, was not injured.
