SANDERS COUNTY - The weekend of the 13th and 14th a father and son competed in a trap shooting contest in Kalispell at the Flathead Valley Clay Target Club.

James Jermyn and his son Alfred Jermyn traveled to Kalispell to compete in what was called the, “5th Annual Wounded Warriors Shoot.” The event was held to help raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project, a veterans charity organization, whose purpose is to empower injured veterans and their families. In addition to the shooting, J. Jermyn said at the event there were raffles and an auction to help raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project.

“I won class A singles on Sunday,” said J. Jermyn. He explained that throughout the two days there were multiple class levels, but everyone who competed still shot against everyone else, regardless of age.

In the Junior class, A. Jermyn won first in singles both on Saturday and Sunday.  

After the shoot, he said, “It felt really good.” He then described why he loves to go shooting.

“I just like traveling and going different places to shoot.” So far he has traveled with his father to Butte, Logan and Missoula to compete. A. Jermyn also explained he likes meeting and talking to new people on his trips.

Proudly explaining, J. Jermyn said, “Every time I go shooting with him I have fun with him... Every week he shoots he gets better,” describing how his son in no time can compete with adults.

Both father and son plan on competing in state competitions, which start in July.
