COEUR d'ALENE - Coeur d'Alene Police Sgt. Greg Moore's alleged killer has officially been charged with first-degree murder.
Jonathan D. Renfro, 27, of Rathdrum, was in a Kootenai County courtroom Wednesday as prosecutors and public defenders argued over multiple motions in his case. Moore was shot in the early morning of May 5 and died later in the day.
Renfro watched as two new charges of felony concealment of evidence were tacked onto the murder charge. He also is charged with robbery, removing a firearm from a law enforcement officer, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and grand theft. All the counts are felonies.
Police said he shot Moore, stole his duty weapon and squad car and fled. He was captured near the Idaho-Washington border.
A motion to hold Renfro without bail was withdrawn by prosecutors.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 22 in front of Magistrate Barry Watson.
Public defender Mayli Walsh told Watson Wednesday that she plans to ask for a continuance.
"We received a large amount of discovery," Walsh said.
