Libby golfers qualify for national tourneys

Libby’s Ryggs Johnston captured the Montana State Junior Golf Tournament Wednesday at the Polson Bay Golf Course.

Johnston, the defending champion at the Junior Championships finished seven under par with a score of 137.

Johnston shot a 68 on Tuesday and finished the day fourth overall and was three strokes off the lead. Danny Friez shot a 65 in the first round and was in first place.

Johnston shot a 69 in the second round on Wednesday. He finished one stroke better than Joey Moore from Billings and Caleb Stetzner from Anaconda to capture the Montana State Junior Championship.

Johnston will be a freshman at Libby high school next year.

Jonny Cielak, who will be a senior at Libby high school, finished fourth overall and qualified for the Junior America’s Cup.

Cielak shot a 71 on the first day and was tied for fifth place heading into the second day. Cielak shot a 73 on the second day and shot a 144 to finish fourth overall. Cielak, like Johnston finished one stroke in front of Sean Benson and Ryan Keenan to capture fourth place.

The Libby boys will both take part in the Junior America’s Cup that begins July 26. The championship will take place in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Terry's Take Out opens in Libby

Terry Lane is doing what she loves and couldn’t be happier. She recently opened Terry’s Take Out located on the corner of Highway 2 and Main Street in Libby. “It’s been my dream for a lot of years. My husband is working in North Dakota and I just decided to finally do it,” Lane, the owner of Terry’s Take Out said.
