The Land of Lakes Choirboys of Minnesota, "Minnesota's Singing Boys," will present a concert of sacred and secular music Saturday at 7 p.m. The concert will be hosted by Lutheran Church of the Master, 4800 N. Ramsey Road, Coeur d'Alene. A free-will offering will be taken.

The Land of Lakes Choirboys believes in developing boys through the discipline of music. Their extensive training, based on the Royal School of Church Music's Voice for Life program, trains the boys in the areas of music theory, sight-singing and ear training, and intense vocal studies. But it's their joy of singing, sparkling stage presence, and their ability to engage the audience that sets this Minnesota choir apart from the rest.

Now in its fourth decade and the recipient of many national and international awards, the choir auditions young boys from ordinary small-town backgrounds and trains them to perform complicated musical works with sensitivity and artistry.

Their training can begin as young as 5 years old and may continue through voice change at which time they are encouraged to join the Land of Lakes Men's Chorus. In addition to their musical studies, the boys are taught about leadership, appropriate behavior and traditional manners. The choir's motto is "Music, Respect and Honor" and the boys, as they grow into fine young men, come to understand how important this motto is in life.

The Land of Lakes Choirboys performs for audiences around the world. The organization has traveled through all of the United States with exception of Alaska and through many countries around the world. Locally, the choir performs an average of 20 concerts each season. The choir believes strongly in programming music that is appealing to its audiences. They perform music by the great masters of Bach, Schubert, Strauss and more. They also perform music from Broadway, folk songs from around the world and other inspiring selections. Their performance in our community will include music from around the world.

The Land of Lakes Choirboys' mission is to enrich the lives of boys by teaching excellence in choral music and self-discipline. Learn more about the choirboys at www.lolcb.org.
