Jobs Plus, Inc., the Coeur d’Alene-area's economic development corporation, announced today that Gynii Abracosa Gilliam of Boise has been hired as president.

Gilliam brings over 20 years of experience in economic development, having worked in both rural settings in central Idaho to urban centers as large as Detroit. She was the former chief economic development officer for the state of Idaho, and prior to joining Jobs Plus ran her own consulting firm providing workshops in “transforming elected officials and stakeholders into champions for economic development.” She is a graduate of UCLA and University of Michigan.

“Gynii brings an extensive economic development background and a strong belief in solid relationships in order to partner and collaborate for the good of our local communities and region, using the strategic initiatives set forth by Post Falls, CDA 2030, Hayden and Rathdrum as a launching point," said Patty Shea, chair of the Jobs Plus board of directors. "Gynii is excited about the renewed focus in our mission of retention and local expansion along with an emphasis on start-ups, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Her passion will be an energizing force as she takes the leadership reins.”

"I am very excited to join Jobs Plus, Inc. and look forward to working with the Kootenai County communities to create that balance of taking care of our existing businesses, growing entrepreneurial activities, and recruiting new businesses to help diversify and strengthen our economy," Gilliam said. "Jobs Plus, Inc. has had a long and successful program, and I know that together we can create further success to give our region a brilliant and vibrant future."
