Kellogg stumbles in 3A opener

MERIDIAN - Tucker Gust led the Kellogg Wildcats with 12 points in a 46-40 loss to the Weiser Wolverines in the opening round of the state 3A tournament on Thursday at Meridian High.

Kellogg shot 15 of 51, rallying from a 24-11 halftime deficit by outscoring Weiser 29-22 in the second half.

"You can't shoot 29 percent from the floor and expect to win the game," Kellogg coach Jeff Lambert said. "We didn't quit, and we don't ever quit."

Gus Colburn scored 11 points for Kellogg (19-4), which faces Parma (11-14) in a loser out game today.
