LEVY: In the end, it's quality

Yes, it is time to get out and support our students on March 10, to renew the Supplemental Levy for the Coeur d’Alene School District. We have this invaluable opportunity to improve the quality of education for our children, who will become our future community workforce and leaders.

As a parent of children attending Coeur d’Alene Public Schools, I am in the schools often and see the need for additional support and smaller class sizes. When my daughter was in fourth and fifth grades, I saw amazing and committed teachers trying to teach 32 students packed into a classroom meant for about 25 students all the while expecting more of themselves and their students during a time of heightened standards and fewer resources. What is also true, but not surprising is that these teachers haven’t stopped trying their best to meet these challenges.

Schools are becoming more creative in trying to provide a quality education to our students with volunteers, grandparents, PTAs and all school staff stepping up. However, resources are still needed to hire more teachers and staff, buy textbooks, etc.

Our support of the levy can fill the gaps to help our teachers teach and children learn.

I am willing to pay $30 more a year (less than $3 monthly) to help fill these gaps. I hope you see this levy as an important opportunity to benefit our community. Let’s show our support of our children and schools!
